The Gregory Legacy, Chapter 20

Hello again! It's finally time for Laurel to get married! I've played ahead a bit and am trying to get caught up, so here's another update. Let's dive right in . . .

"Oh no! Is tonight the wedding? I'm not ready! I forgot to shave my cowplant!"
Is that a really terrible euphemism, Laurel?
"No, I'm an insane freelance botanist. I actually shave cowplants. And you know how stubbly those things can get!"
O . . . kay. Just . . . get dressed, will you?

I built another, more intimate garden wedding lot just for Laurel and Kori, but Laurel still invited all her friends, and since it's set as a nightclub, plenty of crashers attended too, including an undisguised alien. Who also has a skintone problem. >:(  Anyway! My point is, it was a pretty little wedding venue and a very well-attended ceremony. Laurel is a pretty popular sim. Kori probably should have thrown the wedding since it's part of her aspiration to throw parties, but she hardly knows anyone yet besides the other legacy loves she was living with.

Laurel and Kori said their vows, kissed, and we welcomed Kori into the family.

Hurray! Cake cutting! That's . . . really all there is to this picture.

It was setting up this picture, where a crasher and Bryson had a little confetti party long after the cake had been cut. Quite amusing. Bryson was the bartender I hired, but I keep forgetting that bars on nightclub lots spawn bartenders, so Bryson got to just be another reveler. He is family (through marriage to Tessa), so I guess that's okay.

"Oh, man. How awesome is it that we got to wear matching red, shiny suits to this otherwise elegant wedding because the controller gave us these ignoble outfits for Christmas but moved us out before she took the Christmas picture, thus forgetting that we still had them as an option, AND we both choose to wear them instead of our normal formal wear?"
"Not as awesome as drinking coffee at 11 at night! I'm gonna party alllll night."
"Whatever you say, Liam."

Sigh. Luke's got it right. I did forget about these suits, and now I'm not going to change them ever. Just because. It is fitting that Laurel's older brothers, one insane and one evil, would wear such outlandish stuff to the wedding.

Samir: "And then I was playing pirate and I . . . oh. You fell asleep. That's okay. I'll find someone else to talk to."

Samir: "I hate this wedding. It's the worst."
Leo: *snore*

I don't really recommend night weddings, in case you can't tell. Lovely as a wedding by candlelight is, sims are apparently real party-poopers. What kind of adult wedding guest can't make it even to midnight? Strangely, the kids that were invited were just fine. It was just teens and adults taking naps. Dayna even managed to fall asleep next to the stereo.

Once awake, Dayna renewed her vows with Aaron. I didn't realize this gives them a 2-day happy moodlet just like the original wedding. How awesome is that? Dayna and Aaron have turned out to be a great couple, and I felt like seeing their first child get married would put them in the mood to celebrate and rededicate themselves to their relationship.

The wedding was another gold medal party, and ended with the newly married couple stargazing together in the middle of the party, while guests milled about them. Sweet.

Back at home, Kori and Laurel christen my wedding gift to them, which is a new closet in the redecorated master bedroom.

Things were getting a little steamy, so let's cut away to the next morning, when Laurel's cowplant has sprouted. Yay! These things are so adorable. Laurel named it Harry. ;)

Speaking of Laurel, she looks like she might have gained a bit of weight from that wedding cake.

"That's not it at all. Stop taking pictures of me in the bathroom and check just outside this wall."

Ah ha! There's some more magical teleporting toilet confetti. Either that or the chess set is pregnant. More likely, it looks like Laurel is in a family way less than twelve hours after getting married! Aaron's aspiration requires four grandchildren, so the family-creation is going to happen quickly this generation. I also got Laurel the fertile trait because I'm really hoping for multiples to speed up the process, and because I love twins and triplets.

"Okay, so Kori, I know we just got married, but . . . wait, why are you wearing different clothes?"
"Just playing with the closet and got a random outfit. I'll change later. But what were you starting to say?"
"Oh, right! Despite all known reproductive science, I'm pregnant!"

"YES!!!! BABY!!!!"

Now THAT is how you react to the news that your partner is pregnant! Take note, all you disappointed/nervous/angry sim fathers.

Kori's going to be a mother, so she wants to take some responsibility. Since she's a genius, I had her get a job in the secret agent career. Being randomly focused helps in that one. Plus an evil sim like her would make a great double agent. I'm sure she can stir up some trouble somehow.

Kori's also going to start throwing some parties, so she takes a tour of some of the neighborhood to make friends one day. Of course I had her stop by simRoxy and simJ's house so that they'll both start coming to parties again. Also, my simself is apparently a scientist. I don't remember doing that, but I don't think the game gives out careers, so I must have. Cool.

Laurel takes a nap later that day while Kori autonomously watches over her with some delicious grilled cheese. Laurel was very tired right away with this pregnancy.

She also had a lot of morning sickness. She was in the bathroom multiple times.

In an effort to calm her pregnant tummy, I had Laurel meditate for a while. Also, apparently she can levitate now. I did not know that.

Anyway, it didn't really work. Laurel was just as sick afterwards, but at least it gave her a brief respite.

Laurel then caught up with her younger brother. He's due to grow up soon, but he now can't move out until Laurel is done with her pregnancy so it doesn't advance while I'm managing worlds. Oh well. Once he moves out, we'll also check in with the spares and see them get married, but for now, you're stuck with the main family.

Aaron has scored a promotion and is now on the path to being an interstellar smuggler. I thought the rocket you earn with that one is a little cooler, so that's the main reasoning for him going down that branch. He also finally gets to go on space missions for his daily task and can stop working out so much.

Leo's birthday rolled around, and the family was there to celebrate. Also, Aaron scored that huge pink and black space rock in the background on a space mission. It makes quite the impression in the foyer!

As Laurel's pregnancy advances, she starts feeling a little better. Both she and Kori are excited to be parents. They're really quite in love.

To top out her gardening skill and thereby fulfill her aspiration,  Laurel stayed up all one night repeatedly shaping and then growing out and then shaping bonsais. Her garden just wasn't giving her enough skilling opportunity. This, however, did the trick, and she finished Freelance Botanist. Her new aspiration is Successful Lineage. Since she's going to be a mom to four kids eventually, I figured she should be a nurturing one, plus it fits her personality. She's very sweet and loves her family, but she's also always been a bit of an overachiever and probably wants to see her kids succeed too.

Laurel's skill-topping means Dayna can once again help out in the garden since we don't have to "save" all the tasks for Laurel's skill-building. Dayna is just thrilled, let me tell you. I think I might keep most of this huge garden even though Laurel's done needing it, because it actually makes a fair amount of money.

"Dad, I know this may come as a bit of surprise, but I'm pregnant!"
"That's great news, sweetie, but honestly, you're huge and you've been that way for two and a half days now. It wasn't much of a shock, really. Surprise or not though, I'm really looking forward to meeting my first grandchild!"

Kori is getting adjusted to the house nicely. Laurel's insane storytelling doesn't even faze her.

The cowplant matured, and Laurel is taking good care of it. Roy or Roger or whatever I named the first one had such a short life. We'd really like to keep this one around a little longer, although I'm still not sure what happened the first time around.

After checking on her garden, Laurel heads to hug her mom (she loves dishing out hugs), but goes into labor instead! Kori was here painting and instantly goes into pre-parental panic right on cue. She's really got this "being the partner of a pregnant sim" thing down so much better than all those sim fathers, lol.

A while later, Kori and Laurel have been hanging out together in the nursery waiting for Laurel's labor to reach its conclusion. Kori was basking in Laurel's discomfort, which never fails to amuse me. Finally, the time has come and Laurel heads to the bassinet.

"Oh my god, Kori! Kori! We have a daughter!"
"That's awesome! Totally need to redecorate the room now, though."
"Eh. There's no shame in guessing wrong on a fifty-fifty."

The new baby's name is Faye.

I took care of the room, except it wouldn't let me recolor the bassinet while Faye was a baby. I feel like I used to be able to do that. Weird. Anyway, Kori had been parlaying her evil happy mood into flirting with Laurel before the birth, and they pick up right where they left off without even bothering to slip Faye a bottle or something.

Luckily Grandpa Aaron rushes in to the rescue. It's a little weird to see him with his grandchild still as an adult, but he is very close to his birthday. He took care of all of Faye's needs and even made good friends with her right away. I was doubtful about his aspiration when he was a teenager, but he really is a great parent, and now grandparent.

"I can't wait to hate my granddaughter in just a few more days! Boy, this is gonna be fun!"

And then there's Dayna. At least she's not mad yet. We have to wait for Faye to grow up for that. Speaking of waiting, we'll have to do that before we see more of this family because we've reached the end of another chapter! Like I said at the top, I've played ahead, so hopefully the next chapter won't take too long. Thanks for reading as always, and check in with me at SiMania and Boolprop.
